So much to say!

This past month has been full of fun and activity. First of all, Sophia is now 9 months old and looking more and more like a little girl, not the little baby she has been. It's so exciting, but also a bit sad. She is getting so active, not that she wasn't before, but now she is really moving around and talking at all times! She is now not only crawling like a pro, she also pulls up on furniture and mommy's legs and "cruises" around all the furniture. She holds onto the table, and walks around it, then crosses over to the couch and back again. She even scales the walls, it's hilarious!! She looks like 'Spider baby.' She doesn't actually climb the walls of course, but just holds on for balance and walks around the room. She is pretty proud of herself when she does it too. Sophia is also eating lots of different types of foods now, but her favorite is still baby oatmeal mixed with fruit. I am trying to introduce her to many different kinds of foods so she doesn't grow up to be a picky eater. She seems to have more issues with textures than she does with tastes. Since she still doesn't have any teeth, I have to be careful she doesn't choke. Although the doctor assured me her gums are hard enough to mash up her food. It still makes me nervous!

Showing off her muscles!

So proud of her Bapa!

February 26th was a big day for the Wong family! Not only was it our 4 year wedding anniversary, but it was also the day that James got sworn in as an American citizen! We went down to the LA Convention Center for the ceremony. There were 6,001 people being sworn in that day! There were a lot of people, and of course we were late, but that actually worked in our favor because we got to sit together. By the time we arrived the place was pretty packed, so they sat us together in the back. Usually, the guests sit in the back and those being sworn in are all in the front. It was a neat ceremony, complete with a slide show of American soldiers with "Proud to Be an American" playing in the background. A bit cheesy, but kind of nice. We went out to our favorite Indian restaurant that night as a family to celebrate. Not exactly an American meal, but it was tasty!! James and I went out that weekend for a nice quiet dinner, while my cousin Morgan babysat for us. It was really nice to get out and have a date without baby in tow.

Earlier this month I had a bridal shower for my best friend Marika at our house. She and her fiance, Will, are getting married May 23rd. We are so excited for them and can't wait for the big day. The shower went really well, it was a nice afternoon. There were also quite a few babies there as well. Marika's sister Janna, sister-in-law Julie, friend Mandy and myself have all had baby girls in the past year, so the four girls got to play together. It was fun to see them all together. Now I am looking forward to the Bachelorette Spa day in May!!

So, that's pretty much what we've been up to this past month. I am just trying to hang on to every moment with Sophia. I feel like she is growing so fast and she isn't going to be a baby for much longer. Only 2 1/2 months until she turns 1!! I can't believe it...only yesterday she was a tiny newborn sleeping on my chest. She is becoming a little clown and always has us laughing at her silliness. Her new favorite pass time is kissing her reflection in the mirror. She thinks it's hilarious! The funniest part is that she kisses with her mouth wide open and tongue out!! Her kisses are wet, but I love them!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Eating her heart shaped toastie!

We had a lovely Valentine's Day as a family! When I woke up, James and Sophia were busy in the kitchen making pancakes! And there was a beautiful bouquet of red roses on the table. James made us heart shaped pancakes and they were dee-lish! We had a nice day together, and a lovely Thai dinner! Yummy!!

My beautiful flowers!

I had so much fun dressing Sophia
in Valentiney outfits all week!
Dressing little girls is so much fun!

This outfit is from James' boss and his wife, Lindy & Rosa!
And the turtle is from Mommy & Bapa!

Of course we love and appreciate each other everyday, but today just reminds us how happy we are to have our little family! It was a great day!

Happy New Year!

Well, where do I begin? I must say so very much has happened since the last post...back in early December! I can't believe it's February already and Sophia is 8 months old!! So many new things - sitting, standing, crawling, talking, eating lots!!

Eating her puffs! Yumm...

Like the hair?
I think her head may have grown a bit
since I bought the head band!!

First of all, we hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a happy new year! We certainly did! So much went on with us and our family in the past two months, but we are just so blessed and happy to have spent the holiday with everyone, together, happy and healthy. We hosted Christmas day at our home and had my mom's brothers, sister and all of their families over for dinner and our annual gift exchange game. Also, my sister Megan and James' sister Ciara came to town to spend Christmas with us, and were arriving on the same day. However, when I opened the door to greet Ciara, I was shocked to see James' mom, Phyllis standing on my doorstep, all the way from Dublin! I must say it was a great surprise!! It was great to have her with us to celebrate Sophia's first Christmas.

Sophia loved the dolls her Ah-mah
brought all the way from Dublin!

Sophia really enjoyed herself and all of her visitors. It was strange, but it seemed like she knew what was going on. When she woke up Christmas morning and I brought her out into the living room, she was so excited! She was laughing and jumping with delight. Needless to say, she got tons of presents, clothes, toys and dolls, but I think her favorite was the tissue paper!!

What a beautiful girl we have!

We have been having fun watching all the changes in Sophia as she discovers all the new things she can do. She has been sitting up for a while now, and she is just getting better and better at it. Last week she started crawling, and now she is unstoppable! It's so cute to see her moving around. Now she can move where she wants and get to what she wants, so we are in the process of baby proofing the house. Baby gates and cabinet locks are now a part of our home! We wouldn't change things for the world!

Crawling toward her block...

...almost there...

Got it!

We also enrolled Sophia in something called 'My Gym.' It's a gym for kids, a lot like Gymboree. It's really fun and Sophia loves it! They have fun games, music and lots of things to climb, jump on and play with. She learns a new "trick" every week, last week it was a back flip! We go twice a week, and it's also a fun way for her to meet and interact with other kids. She loves other babies. She gets so excited to see them, once she even made a little boy cry! I guess he didn't like the enthusiastic scream he got in his face! She was just saying hello!

She loves her Hum Pau, a little red envelope

given to children on Chinese New Year, containing money.

Thanks Ah-mah and Yeh-yeh!
